  1. I just got a press release from JVC, announcing that they will be introducing
  2. several new digital professional taped decks at NAB. 
  3.  
  4. The release says it has all the qualities of Digital Betacam, including
  5. the built-in layering, serial digital I/O, component I/O, Y/C I/O, and 
  6. of course composite I/O. But the cost will be half of Digital Betacam.

  8. Even better, it will be backwards compatible with S-VHS tapes, so the new
  9. decks will also play & record standard S-VHS tapes, in addition to their
  10. new 1/2" digital tapes.
